Tell us the substrate, surface preparation and service conditions. Define the finish and performance requirements before comparing coating chemistry.
Include your application equipment, curing conditions, recoat needs and production constraints. A replacement system needs to work within the actual process.
Evaluate each component’s technical and safety data. Isocyanate-free formulations still need their own safety, performance and regulatory assessment.
INFORMED SELECTION
Exposure to unreacted isocyanates can cause respiratory and skin sensitization. Federal workplace guidance prioritizes eliminating or substituting exposure, followed by other controls. Provincial requirements also matter.
Federal control-measures guidanceOntario regulates isocyanates as designated substances, with assessment, exposure-control and other duties for applicable workplaces. Health Canada explains that listing MDIs under CEPA Schedule 1 does not itself restrict their use, manufacture or import.
Ontario designated-substances regulationHealth Canada MDI informationVOC requirements must be assessed separately for the specific product and use. General information, reviewed 12 October 2026. Check the requirements for your product, application and jurisdiction with a qualified workplace-safety or regulatory professional.
