Choose the appearance
NOVOPUR 1010 and NOVOPUR 1020 provide matt finish options. NOVOPUR 1050 is semi-matt; NOVOPUR 1090 is gloss. Review the individual technical sheet and an appropriate finish reference when agreeing the appearance.
A gloss value is meaningful with its measurement angle. Values measured at different angles should not be treated as a single comparison scale. Confirm the finish specification and colour availability for the particular product.
Keep the primer and finish together
These two-component NOVOPUR finishes are applied over the prepared substrates and compatible undercoats identified in their documentation. They are not presented here as direct-to-bare-steel products.
For a steel-structure project, NOVOL publishes system examples using NOVOPUR 1020, 1050 or 1090 with specified epoxy primers. Use the full layer schedule and preparation requirements when discussing such a system. Do not substitute another finish solely because it has a similar appearance.
Select components for the application method
The named hardener, thinner and their proportions belong to each product’s instructions. Standard and fast options can change the available working time and the application schedule. A faster option is not automatically suitable for every spray setup.
For NOVOPUR 1010, air-assisted airless application requires HARD 10 STANDARD and THIN 50 STANDARD. For NOVOPUR 1090, the FAST hardener and FAST thinner are not recommended for that method. Check the exact combination before preparing a batch.
Prepare a useful finish enquiry
Send the primer or existing coating name, desired appearance, colour reference and application method. Include the service environment and any written project specification so the complete coating system can be assessed.
Review the current technical and safety documentation before use. These polyurethane systems use specified hardeners; do not assume they are isocyanate-free. Ask for the applicable local SDS and confirm professional handling requirements.
